Local company, Kawartha Endodontics, supports a scholarship, dental fund, downtown revitalization and commitment to innovation and the environment
[PETERBOROUGH] The Greater Peterborough Area Economic Development Corporation (GPA EDC)’s Business Advisory Centre is excited to announce Kawartha Endodontics as the July EPIC Venture. EPIC (Entrepreneurs Proudly Investing in our Community) Ventures is a program that has been designed to recognize the Peterborough region’s small business community’s contribution to economic growth, quality of life and creative business opportunities.
Kawartha Endodontics, owned and operated by Dr. Rita Kilislian, was selected from a list of nominees because of its successful growth, innovation, support of local trades, job creation, customer service and quality of life for its employees and the region.
Dr. Kilislian’s investment in her business has created one of the most technologically advanced centres for endodontics, reducing travel time for local patients who would otherwise have to drive to Toronto. Her practice draws patients from 200 regional dental offices from as far away as 150km, clients who shop and eat in Peterborough. Last year alone, Kawartha Endodontics saved the natural teeth of over 1800 patients, the alternative to which is often extraction.
Kawartha Endodontics is committed to increasing the quality of life in the region through improving the look and feel of the downtown through building revitalization and the creation of a scholarship for local students pursuing a career in dentistry. Dr. Kilislian has also donated to numerous charities, encouraged volunteerism amongst staff and created a fund now worth $125,000.00 to ensure access to endodontic services regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
Following the renovation of their downtown location using local trades, Kawartha Endodontics opened their doors early 2010. They started with 3 employees and have since grown to 12 full and part-time staff. Kawartha Endodontics was also recognized for their commitment to the environment through implementing a paperless office philosophy.
“We are thrilled at Kawartha Endodontics to receive this recognition through the EPIC Venture program” said Dr. Kilislian, “It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed first, a lesson I learned early on through Napoleon Hill.”
Kawartha Endodontics will receive a promotional prize pack that includes a “My Peterborough” radio feature on the KRUZ FM, a profile on PTBOCanada.com, on-line recognition on the Peterborough This Week and Peterborough Examiner websites, downtown display space provided by DNS Real Estate Limited Brokerage, a profile in The Business Beat, a one hour marketing insight session with Lazer Graphics, a one hour social media consultation with Sofie Andreou and lunch with MPP Jeff Leal.
Each month the BAC will collect nominations from the City and County of Peterborough and a winner will be chosen to receive the promotional prize pack. Nominations for the EPIC Ventures program are due by the 20th of each month. Check out our new online nomination form at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/EPICnomination
