Wow! What a fantastic (and busy) 2011 we had here at the Business Advisory Centre! We hosted many seminars and workshops that were very well attended. From Canada Revenue Agency seminars on HST, Payroll and their Small Business Information Seminar to our Social Media Clinic series and our Bridges to Better Business events we provided small business in the County and City of Peterborough with lots of opportunity for professional development.
We were very pleased to present the EPIC Ventures program this past year that was a pilot program designed to recognize the fantastic small businesses in our area. In October of last year we opened our eighth and final kiosk location in Buckhorn. Our kiosk program started in 2008 with three locations and we now have one in each Township of Peterborough County! This program offers the same great services provided in the Peterborough office to the businesses throughout the County closer to home. In 2011 we helped a record number of small businesses through our kiosks.
The BAC also had a record setting year administering the Summer Company program that helps students start their own summer businesses by providing up to $3000 in funding last year. We had a whopping 25 students in the program! The 2012 program opened January 9th, so if you know a student between the ages of 15 and 29 that is in school now and will be returning in the fall, ask us for details!
In addition to all of this we continued to offer the same great free consultation services and free legal and accounting appointments to any aspiring entrepreneur and businesses owner in our area. 2011 was such a rewarding year for us and we look forward to serving you in 2012!
