Wits End Equestrian Centre

Mary Mattos, owner and operator of Wits End Equestrian Centre (WEEC) has been around horses most of her life. When speaking to her it is evident that this is her passion!

Mary may just love all animals in fact, as you will find if you go to visit her at the farm. When I first visited I was met by a big, white, friendly dog, then a cat or two. As we made our way through the gate into the barnyard we were met by a curious goat and two roaming horses. On the other side of one of Mary’s barns are several more horses in a large paddock. As we made our way into the large barn I discovered chickens as well! When you go to WEEC, you get way more than horses!

The farm, located in McCracken’s Landing just south of Stoney Lake was built in 1984 and Mary has coached horses and riders there ever since. In addition to lessons offered to students of all ages, WEEC also runs day and overnight camps for young riders during the March and summer breaks.

“I love being able to spend a great deal of time working outdoors. Seeing baby animals grow and play.” Mary said. She also loves “The satisfaction of earned wins when students do well and the learning experiences when they attempt more difficult levels of

competition.”

Mary takes great pride in her work and likes to have fun with her students and horses. I certainly enjoyed my time at the farm! Visit her webpage or send her an email to learn more about this special place.
