Local athlete Taylor Brown is using his business background and past work experience to run a full-time summer business, through the Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation’s Summer Company Program. Affordable Window Cleaning provides residential and commercial window cleaning services in Peterborough and the surrounding area.
The Stewart Hall resident grew up playing sports – particularly hockey, lacrosse, basketball, and football – in the community. Taylor played for several local teams, including the Peterborough Minor Lakers. He now plays varsity lacrosse for the University of Guelph where he is studying Marketing Management. Taylor credits his outstanding work ethic to athletics. “Playing sports has taught me leadership, teamwork, and the value of hard work”, he says. Taylor is eager to share these values with others. He recently spent his holidays volunteering at a weeklong lacrosse camp for children. “The kids had so much energy and enthusiasm for the sport…it was really rewarding to help them learn and to see their progress over the week”, he says.
Taylor’s skills extend beyond sports. In past summers, he worked at an established window cleaning company where he learned the tricks of the trade for attaining a streak-free shine. He enjoyed the work, but wanted more autonomy in his summer employment. This summer he set his sights on staring his own business: Affordable Window Cleaning.
According to Taylor, window cleaning is a neglected chore that can make your house or place of business look dull. “The cleanliness of your windows is a reflection of your business…customers notice and appreciate clean windows,” he explains. Clean windows also brighten up a room which can make it look larger and more inviting. He recommends having your windows professionally cleaned at least once a year.
Taylor’s attention to detail and client satisfaction set him apart from the competition. In addition to cleaning the windows, he thoroughly washes, rinses, and dries the window screens and wipes down the sills and frames. Taylor emphasizes the importance of providing an enjoyable experience for the client at an affordable price. He offers free estimates, uses eco-friendly products, and guarantees a streak-free shine.
